What do you associate with Africa?

From a European perspective, our neighboring continent is often characterized by one-sided images: wars, disease, poverty—or exotic landscapes and safari romance. However, the reality is much more complex. Africa is a continent on the rise, full of dynamism, diversity, and economic potential. This is precisely where EWIA comes in with its business model—and invites you to become part of this future.

Solar power for Zaina Lodge – a project with symbolic significance

EWIA has just signed its 15th contract for a photovoltaic system in Ghana. This time with a customer that epitomizes the image of idyllic Africa like no other: Zaina Lodge is the first luxury safari lodge in West Africa – located in the heart of Mole National Park, Ghana's oldest and largest wildlife reserve.

A 51 kWP solar power system now supplies the lodge with clean electricity. But why does an exclusive tent chalet village need sustainable energy? Quite simply because tourist businesses can also take responsibility – for the environment, people, and the region. And because projects like this show that sustainability and economic efficiency are not mutually exclusive.

From Ghana to Cameroon – the other reality

While guests at Zaina Lodge enjoy comfortable European standards, millions of people in rural areas of Africa still live without access to electricity. This contrast is particularly evident in Cameroon: while large cities such as Yaoundé and Douala are well electrified, many villages lack any infrastructure whatsoever – with far-reaching consequences for education, health, and economic development.

This is where SunErgy, a subsidiary of EWIA, comes in. A framework agreement has been signed with the Cameroonian government to bring sustainable, decentralized energy supply to remote regions. A delegation from EWIA is currently on site to evaluate projects and exchange ideas with representatives of the German Embassy and the World Bank. The results of this trip will be reported on soon.

Cameroon – Africa in miniature

Cameroon is considered a microcosm of the entire continent: deserts in the north, rainforest in the south, volcanoes, savannahs, and coastlines. More than 250 ethnic groups and languages, two official languages, incredible cultural diversity. At the same time, there is a deep divide between urban centers with international trade and rural regions without electricity, water, or medical care.

With its projects, SunErgy helps to bridge this divide – sustainably, decentralized, and socially effective.
