Project update: Construction progress at the Radach Hotel

We recently reported on the start of construction of the ground-mounted system at the Radach Hotel in Tamale. Here is a current update.

What has happened in the meantime.

  1. The soil preparation and soil samples have been finalised.

  2. The structural calculations for the steel structure and the number of steel columns have been finalised.

  3. The material has been ordered in full and pre-configurations for the electrics have already been made in our office.

  4. The foundation work (concrete columns) has been finalised so far.

  5. The preparatory work for the steel structures is almost complete.

The substructure used here is unusual: it is not strip foundations, but columns connected with spanning steel structures.

It is currently the rainy season in Ghana. There has been heavy rainfall the whole time, which has repeatedly hindered the concrete work. That's why we had to make further improvements to the concrete foundations, dig even deeper, etc.

EWIA Infrastructure solves several challenges simultaneously

All of the foundation work and civil works were carried out by our joint venture, EWIA Infrastructure. This has several advantages, because on the one hand we were able to utilise synergies and on the other ‘local content’, i.e. contribute to local value creation. This means that we purchased materials and components locally, usually from local manufacturers. Our employees are also locals.

We assume that we will have completed the system with a capacity of approx. 74 kWp in about 4 weeks. To be continued...
