From now on, we are joined by Aina Cárceles Juan, a well-traveled engineer for renewable energies. The solar expert will work from Barcelona and support our teams in Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ghana, both remotely and on site. Her goal is also to initiate knowledge transfer within EWIA and to strengthen technical and planning skills.

May we introduce our new team member, Aina Cárceles Juan?

Aina is a sun worshipper both professionally and privately. The engineer for renewable energies with over seven years of international experience in the fields of solar PV, floating solar, and hybrid systems will act as a technical advisor for EWIA. She will work from Barcelona and also support our projects in Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria on site.

Polyglot and sustainability-oriented Aina has accompanied large-scale projects in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America from planning to implementation and has in-depth expertise in feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and energy yield analyses. Her focus is on promoting sustainable energy access, rural electrification, and strengthening climate resilience.

Starting point: Waterfalls

She supports the planning and procurement of a PV mini grid in Cameroon, starting with our pilot project in the city of Waterfalls, which aims to electrify around 600 households. Turning ambitious plans and paper into reality is something very special for engineers, so Aina is very much looking forward to the commissioning. The goal is to expand this model to other towns across the country. In addition, she will be involved in the revitalization of five existing solar installations in Cameroon that are in need of repair.

In general, Aina intends to conduct training sessions once the technology has been implemented and is up and running on site, in order to enable knowledge transfer within the teams.

Later on, Aina will gradually become more involved in the Nigerian market.

Return to Ghana

Aina already worked in Ghana in 2023 for a previous employer in the field of business development. That was when the contact with EWIA was first established. We invited her, and as a result, we were able to win her over to work with us in Ghana, where she has already lived. This also suits her nature, as Aina has previously lived in Panama and Brazil and enjoys getting to know different cultures and people. As a result, she speaks Catalan and Spanish as well as English, German, and Portuguese.

By the way, none of this would have been possible in this form without the mediation of Deventer Consulting, a Barcelona-based consulting firm. Deventer Consulting offers comprehensive services in the areas of taxation, accounting, human resources, and auditing for national and international clients, supported by a multilingual team, and helps them navigate the Spanish financial and regulatory environment.

We are very pleased to have been able to recruit Aina, an absolute expert in her field. Welcome aboard, Aina!
