We start May with the signing of a new project contract (MOU). The client this time is Zaina Lodge, a luxury safari lodge in Mole National Park with 24 large, spacious tented chalets facing two artificial waterholes. The tented chalets are located at the top of an escarpment from where nature lovers have an excellent view of the animals drinking at two waterholes.
Mole National Park is the oldest, largest and most developed of Ghana's recognised national parks and reserves. The reserve's two busy waterholes are frequented by elephants, hippos, warthogs, water buffaloes, hyenas and baboons, among others. This makes the park a favourite destination for tourists who want to experience the continent's unique wildlife up close.
The lodge also offers access to cultural experiences: There are two authentic eco-villages (Larabanga and Mognori) located on the edge of Mole National Park. Larabanga is home to the famous mosque, which is said to be the oldest mosque in West Africa.
Even though the offer is primarily aimed at nature lovers, nobody has to compromise on luxuries such as air conditioning or WiFi in the chalets. To ensure that the electricity required for these amenities is produced sustainably in future, the management of the lodge has decided to install a solar power system.
The system will have an output of 51 kWp. Our partner for the realisation of the project as EPC will be Infra Futura. This is the first project in co-operation with the subsidiary of Stella Futura, the renewable energy specialist from Sweden. Together we are facing a new challenge: the ground-mounted system must be protected from damage by wild animals.
